The purpose of this section is to promote an awareness of the Viejas Tribal
Gaming Commission and educate the public on how Indian Gaming is regulated
in California. It is our hope that the following information will promote continued
confidence in the integrity of Indian Gaming and how it is regulated.
The Viejas Tribal Gaming Commission is an independent governmental gaming
regulatory agency for the federally recognized sovereign government of the
Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. The Viejas Tribal Gaming Commissioner
reports directly to the Viejas Tribal Government and therefore, has no
dependence or reporting relationship to Viejas Enterprises or its management.
Indian Gaming is under intense scrutiny by Federal and State lawmakers and
regulators, as well as the media and the public, to ensure that Tribes are not
conducting business with undesirable, unscrupulous, or criminal elements.
Therefore, it is necessary for us to subject suppliers to a licensing process which
includes background investigations of the businesses, and the principals of those
businesses that wish to engage in commerce with Viejas Enterprises.
A supplier who provides, has provided, or is deemed likely to provide at least
twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) in supplies and/or services in any
twelve (12) month period through purchase order or contract may be required to
be approved and licensed by the Viejas' Tribal Government Gaming
Commission.
Our ability to protect the integrity of Indian Gaming and to comply with Federal,
State and Tribal licensing and other regulatory requirements depends largely
upon the cooperation and compliance of reputable companies.
Should your company be required to submit a gaming license application, you
will be contacted by the Viejas Tribal Gaming Commission directly.
